Club Time Trials August 2026

I pretty much stopped blogging for a couple of months. Mostly this was due to various circumstances, plus I seemed to have plateaued a bit in my time trialling. While I continued to place pretty well in the club time trials, I still struggled to get comfortable in the aero tuck.

Having said that, our strategy of regrouping in a local pub after each club event for rehydration therapy and a spot of socialising became a regular feature. Here's a collection of TT bikes laid out outside The Old Swan in Astwood.

You can just see my new Ascalon extensions in the second bike...

Just to prove I was actually racing, here's a photo of me approaching the line at the top of the final climb on the Astwood course.

And finishing on the Stoke Hammond course

Towards the end of the season, I finally made some progress on the aero position problems that had pretty well dogged my season of time trialling. I bought a set of Aerocoach Ascalon extensions, which I fitted to the P5. These made a big difference, but I still felt the P5 frame was a little short compared to the older P3 bike, and I eventually shifted tem to the P3 and replaced them with a newer set of Ascalons with longer reach. I'll post separately on the Ascalons.
